Wire haired fox terrierWire haired fox terriers are a British breed. They developed from the smooth haired fox terrier. They were bred to hunt fox and badger. The coat is rough with a slight beard. Hand-stripping helps to maintain the coarse wiry texture of wire-haired dogs. Using clippers tends to ruin the harshness, but of course it's much quicker! Both Wire & Smooth Foxies are docked. Legislation may come into being soon that docking is to be banned. The tails should be on a level with the top of the head when viewed from the front of the dog, this is difficult to gauge when docking at 3 days old! But generally if 1/3rd is removed then it leaves the 2/3rds, which when the dog has grown the tail is the correct length. How the different breeds of dogs developed Colour: white with black and or tan markings. Weight: 7 - 8 kg. Height: 39 cm at shoulder Class: Terrier
