Welsh
Springer Spaniel
The spaniel family are water-loving hunting
dogs, who love to hunt for ducks or other water-fowl. "Welsh" means
"from Wales," a part of UK. Wales is a mountainous country with
isolated valleys where the dogs developed into a breed. "Springer"
means a dog who makes game such as birds "spring" from their
hiding places in long reeds and grass. (fly or jump)
The dogs love people and will easily fit
into the family.
The Welsh springer spaniel is slightly
smaller than the English springer spaniel, and is distinguished by its color:
white with red markings. The Engish springer spaniel has black or liver
markings.
Height at shoulder: Male dogs 46 - 48 cm, and female dogs
43 - 46 cm
How breeds developed
| To spring means to
fly upwards, or jump up. Birds and animals spring up out of fear. God
gives us an adrenalin rush to react fast to danger.
