Staffordshire Bull TerrierStaffordshire Bull Terriers are medium sized and pack a lot of power in their muscular bodies. They have strong jaws and prominent cheek muscles. They enjoy a dog-fight if provoked. Staffordshire is a county in England. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier was originally bred for the sport of dog fighting. The dogs were also used to kill rats. History of dogs and development of breeds. The dogs are often called Staffies or Staffords, for short. They originated from a cross between a Bulldog and a terrier. Staffies can be aggressive towards other dogs, although affectionate towards humans.
Height 35 - 40 cms at shoulder. Class: Terrier.
Americans have developed a similar breed, the American Staffordshire Terrier, or Amstaff, as it is called.
