Basset Fauve de Bretagne
Basset fauve de Bretagne originate in Brittany, a province of France. Bassets are hunting hounds. Fauve means "fawn," referring to the tawny, or reddish-wheaten color of the breed. The coat is short and wiry. Brushing helps to keep the coat clean. It should not be clipped. They are longer and straighter in the leg than basset hounds and are capable of charging after wild pigs, rabbits, etc. Ears are pendulous, ending in a point. Ears are covered in fine short hair, darker than the body. Tail is carried up when on the move, curving like a sabre. (a curved sword) The length of the back is shorter than the basset hound. Basset fauve de Bretagne's are happy, unaggressive, active dogs, who love to go out for runs. Bassets can be stubborn dogs with a mind of their own, so it's good to train them from an early age.
