 Japanese Chin

Japanese people today, like small dogs that can be substitute children!

The breed comes from the Orient as the name suggests. General belief is that the dogs came from China.  They were 'gifts of State' to diplomats and foreigners who rendered outstanding services to Japan.  They used to be known as the Japanese Spaniel.  The Chin is in the place of Spaniel.

'Chin' means 'catlike'.  They wet their little paws and wash their faces.  This breed is truly immaculate.

Japanese Chins are beautiful little dogs, with lovely manners and aristocratic appearance.  Their eyes are dark, rather squint and lustrous; small V-shaped ears place high on the head fall forward, but not flat;  the muzzle is broad, full and short, body square and compact; legs straight and finely boned.  A heavily plumed tail carried proudly over their back adds to the chin's attractiveness.  The longer coat, which stands away from the body, has a thick mane or ruff around the neck as well as feathering on the thighs, legs and feet.

Regular grooming keeps the Japanese chin looking neat.

Colour:  white and black, or red and white.  The red includes all shades from the palest lemon through sable, orange to a deep brindle.

Class: toy

Weight: 1.8 - 3.2 kg

How the different breeds of dogs developed

Japanese Chins have a quiet, happy nature and make ideal house pets. What kind of nature do WE have in the house? The Bible says, "A quiet, gentle spirit is beautiful and valuable in God's sight." 1 Peter chapter 3 verse 4
