I heard a woman from SWEAT talking on the radio about the sex-workers who will make money by selling sex to the men who come to see the FIFA World Cup in South Africa. I’m thinking, don’t these men care about their wives? What shock, hurt and anger the wives will feel if they find out. More so, the kids of these men. It’s enough to break up a home, and kids often feel responsible. Then there are the mothers, sisters and grandmothers of these self-centered, sex-crazed men. Imagine their shame.

The minister in church today wore a white robe. I was wondering why the clergy need to wear robes? I found it a bit distracting. Sure, it’s a uniform, but it’s a bit outmoded. I needed to concentrate, cos the minister was speaking about the Trinity - a difficult doctrine. Jesus said, “I and my Father (God) are one.” John 10, 30. Jesus and His Father are one - how can that be? Jesus also spoke of, “The Comforter whom I will send to you from the Father - the Spirit of truth, which proceeds from the Father, he shall testify of me.” John 15, 26 Jesus was born of a woman, but the Spirit “proceeded”. It’s beyond our intellect, but we can ask God to show us the truth.

Homosexual Uproar

A furore has broken out over homosexuality in Malawi. Some say it’s a violation of human rights to jail folk for flaunting homosexuality. But is it a right to break the law? There must be a law in place in Malawi that carries a penalty. They could not be found guilty otherwise.

Folk that fight for the rights of homosexuals must be in favour of homosexuality & they must want to encourage it. If it were something of which they disapproved, they’d go along with the court’s decision.

The laws of the Bible are for our good. Marriage was created so that people could live in families. So that children could grow up with two parents – a mother and a father. Male and female balance each other, giving children a balanced outlook on life. If a man doesn’t want to marry a woman, he should live a celibate life. The church should set an example of following the rules of the Bible, but instead, the church has allowed male priests to molest boys, and is now promoting homosexuals and lesbians to even higher positions of leadership. Christians should read the Bible and see what God says!

I like to listen to the phone-in programs on SAFM (radio). Today’s topic was Zapiro’s cartoon of the prophet Mohammed. (I’m sure he drew it on purpose, knowing that he’d upset the Muslim community & gain notoriety.) But that’s by the by. A humanist phoned in and said (more or less) that religious folk had too much power, & that they should use their intellect & not believe in the supernatural.I tried to phone in, but the line was busy. I’d like to tell him that Christianity is about humility, not power. Jesus said that we should be servants of others, and not lord it over them.

I’d like to tell him that Christianity cannot be grasped with the intellect. Using the intellect is science. Believing in Christ is faith. All religion believes in the supernatural. It’s sometimes only if someone dies, that we have any glimpse of the supernatural. It cannot be known through the mind or senses. But God can impart a knowledge of Himself.

If a humanist does not believe in the supernatural, then he is an atheist. For God is supernatural. It seems to me that humanism is a euphemism for atheist. It sounds much more benign.

I admire Zimbabwe’s stance on banning homosexuality. Their principles are clear. It’s very brave of them to take a stand on this issue, while most of the world condones it. In the rest of the world, Christians are scared to say a word against homosexuality for fear of being unpopular. Being told by so-called Christian leaders that everything is OK, doesn’t help. Sin is sin. Anything that God forbids is sin, and homosexuality is forbidden in God’s word, the Bible.

I hear that 2 homosexual men in Malawi have been jailed for saying they are getting married. I admire the courts in Malawi! They have a sense of moral decency that is in line with the Bible. More power to their arm. I wish more people had the guts to honour God’s rules. The trouble is, folk read the Bible so little that they don’t know what God’s rules are! They are meant for our good, not our harm.

Ascension Day - what’s that?

It’s the commemoration of the day when Jesus “ascended” (went up) into heaven. It’s more important than Easter and Christmas, because if Jesus never rose from the dead and ascended into the place above all places – the throne of God, then he was just an ordinary human and there is no point in celebrating his birth at Christmas.

Eye witnesses said he went “up.” In 12 hrs, “up” will be “down,” so in effect, Jesus is everywhere. He is now Jesus Christ – Christ meaning “king.”

Integrity Today - Where is it?

I’m praying for an honest gardener/handyman. Most of the folk I’ve employed in the past have stolen as much as possible. I pay more than the minimum wage, and try to be a pleasant. I always say thank you for the work. I’m afraid to advertise for a man, because of the lack of integrity. May God answer my prayer and send me a person I can trust and uplift.
