About Fox Terriers
A fox terrier makes an ideal pet. They are small, and don't need
a huge yard. The smooth coat fox terrier needs no grooming (though a brush helps
to keep the coat in good condition). They are intensely loyal and will make good
watch dogs that protect the home. It's best to keep a watch dog inside the house
where burglars can't poison them. These alert dogs will raise the alarm.
Fox terriers were bred in England to hunt
for badgers and foxes. They are sometimes called "English" fox
terriers. These hardy dogs could get inside the animals' burrows and nip them so
that they darted out, or they could haul them out with their mouths. Some
breeders preferred a tougher coated dog, and started selecting wiry coated dogs
for breeding. The wire-haired fox terrier
became a separate breed.
Fox terriers can be aggressive towards
other dogs. If buying a fox terrier puppy, remember a male may get on with
a female, but two dogs of the same sex will probably fight. Puppies soon grow up
and start asserting themselves!

Both Wire & Smooth Foxies are docked. Legislation may come into being soon that docking is to be banned. The tails should be on a level with the top of the head when viewed from the front of the dog, this is difficult to gauge when docking at 3 days old! But generally if 1/3rd is removed then it leaves the 2/3rds, which when the dog has grown the tail is the correct length.
Ears should fold over, with the tip of the ear pointing towards the eye or the side of the head, with the fold slightly above the level of the head.

only we could be happy and spirited like a dog! As the Bible says,
"Be joyful always... give thanks in all circumstances... do not put
