Cats
Burmese means, "from Burma, or Myanmar
as it is now known." A dark, chocolate brown female cat was taken from
Burma to San Francisco, USA, by Dr Joseph Thompson in 1930. He called his cat
Wong Mau. Through selective breeding to Siamese,
he created the Burmese cat as a distinct breed.
The original Burmese cats were dark brown, a sable color that is nearly
black, but by mating them to different colored Siamese cats, different colors of
Burmese were produced. The colors recognized by CFA are: sable, champagne, blue and platinum.
The eyes are yellow. They are heavily built. The coat is short and easy to
keep.
Burmese
like to be petted, and this helps keeps the coat trim. They love people and make
good indoor pets.
| The Bible says, "A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal, but the wicked are cruel."
