Bolognese

Bolognese dogs get their name from the town of Bologna, in Italy, where they have been known since the 11th & 12th centuries. They are similar to the little bichon Frisé but are more square in appearance. They are sometimes called bichon Bolognese. Maltese dogs may also be ancestors of the Bolognese.

Bolognese are obedient and easy to train. They make good companions.

Tail: set high over the back.

Coat: long, flocked on both head and body. The hair stands away from the body, rather than lying flat. The coat should be combed every day, but never trimmed.

Colour: white coat, with black button nose, lips and eyelids.

Height: Male 27 - 30.5 cms at shoulder, female 25.5 - 28 cms at shoulder

Weight: 3 - 4 kgs

Class: toy

The happy, well-adjusted Bolognese dog gives us a demonstration of what a Christian should be like. The spirited dog seems to exhibit "the fruit of the Spirit  -  love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." (Galatians. 5:22)
